Overview

The Department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology has been the back bone of many other departments of this institute in providing the much needed information of the general health of patients as well as in detecting many cancers and diseases of the head & neck region. The students in this section are trained about diseases that manifest in and about the oral cavity. We teach students about the clinical, radiographic, laboratory, histopathologic, and therapeutic features of these diseases as well as their etiology and natural history. The department is equipped with the most advanced diagnostic equipments and has helped to create many a postgraduate dissertation in various branches of dental sciences. It runs a highly advanced postgraduate training program. Oral and Maxillo-facial Pathology is that branch of dentistry which provides knowledge of all the diseases affecting the oral cavity as well as the Maxillofacial region. It represents the confluence of the basic sciences and clinical dentistry. This knowledge is imparted through didactic and practical adaptation of methods and disciplines of basic sciences, clinical histories and observation of patients.
