The Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics hosted a Continuing Dental Education programme entitled “Endodontics Today” in collaboration with the International College of Dentists, on 23rd September 2011.
Endodontics is a subject that has been witnessing a sea change over the last couple of decades, with the development of new instruments and techniques, and also changing core concepts.
The chief guest for the programme was our honourable Chairman, Dr. R. P. Chadha. The guest speakers were leading endodontists from two different aspects of the profession. Prof. (Dr.) Naseem Shah is an eminent academician who is Chief of the Centre for Dental Education & Research, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Head of the Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics. Dr. Rajiv Kumar Chugh, a leading practitioner from New Delhi, is an academician at heart, and enjoys teaching and sharing his experiences with the latest developments in the field with various audiences.
The CDE programme was well-attended by about 200 delegates, including Professors  & Heads of Departments, faculty members, postgraduate students, undergraduate students and interns from 10 dental colleges of the Delhi-NCR region. A number of private dental practitioners from the region also took part in the deliberations. There were guest lectures, followed by a hands-on programme on “Retreatment Endodontics” conducted by Dr. Chugh. 35 participants took part in the hands-on programme. The hands-on programme was supported by the Dentsply Academy.
The event was a great success thanks to the unflagging whole-hearted efforts and meticulous attention to detail given by the Head of the department and Organizing Chairperson, Dr. Rupali Chadha, the Organizing Secretary, Dr. Sonali Taneja, and all the other members of the Organizing Committee.
         

A CDE programme titled “NOVEL PERIODONTICS ..... unravelling the future” was conducted at ITS Centre for Dental Studies & Research on 27th August, 2011 to deliberate on the latest developments in this field regarding Lasers, Implants and Microsurgery. Incorporation of these techniques in day-to-day practice would go a long way providing benefit to the community as a whole.

The chief guest for the occassion was Dr. Mahesh Verma, Vice-President, Dental Council of India. The guests of honor were Dr. Col. S. K. Ojha, Secretary, DCI and Dr. R. P. Chadha, Chairman, ITS – The Education Group. Dr. Hari Parkash, Director-General, ITS-CDSR and Mr. Arpit Chadha, Vice-Chairman, I.T.S.-The Education Group also graced the occassion with their presence.

 The Guest Speakers included Dr. Suvarne Nene, renowned Implantologist, Dr. Naresh Thukral, pioneer in the field of Lasers and Dr. Ranjana Mohan, eminent periodontist and specialist in the field of Microsurgery. They shared their vast experience and knowledge with almost 300 delegates who attended the programme and made it a truly memorable learning experience.

The event was a huge success thanks to the tireless and whole-hearted efforts of Dr. Vidya Dodwad, Organising Chairman, and Dr. Sumit Malhotra, Organising Secretary, along with other members of the Organising Committee.

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery I.T.S –CDSR organized an Orthognathic Surgery workshop on 18th and 19th February.
Orthognathic surgery is the surgical correction of abnormally placed jaws by highly skilled surgeons. It was the first of its kind workshop conducted in North India. This treatment is now available at I.T.S Centre of Dental Studies and Research, Muradnagar, Ghaziabad. The workshop provided a unique platform for exchange or ideas and experiences of senior delegates related to the field of Orthognathic Surgery and source of immense knowledge & clinical exposure for budding Postraduates. More than 200 delegates across India attended the workshop. Eminent surgeons, Dr. Ashok Dabir from Mumbai, Dr. Kiran Gadre from Pune and Dr. Chetan Jayade from Hyderabad graced the occasion and performed live surgeries. Dr. Suhas Godhi, Head of the Department, Dr. Amit B. Lall and Dr. Anurag Singh with other faculty members and postgraduate students worked selflessly round to clock to organize this surgical workshop which is at par with the international standards.

The college organized the 31st ISPPD National Conference at I.T.S Centre for Dental Studies & Research, Muradnagar Ghaziabad from 12th - 14th November, 2009. 280 scientific papers were included for presentation. The presentations were made in 9 halls separately. The inauguration ceremony was done by (Hony.) Brig. Dr. Anil Kohli, Padmashri, Padmabhushan Awardee, President Dental Council of India. The highlights of the inauguration Ceremony was covered by Doordarshan, Star TV, NDTV, 24*7 channels. Prof. N. Sivakumar, president ISPPD gave presidential speech. Dr. Anil Kohli inaugurated the conference and applauded the efforts of ITS-Group of institutions to bring dental education to forefront and maintain the highest levels of education, training, clinical activities, scientific activities and continuing dental education.

Various eminent international speakers like Dr. Halimah Awang, prof. Ana Karina Mascarenhas (Director, Dental Public Health Division, Boston University), Prof. Nigel M King from Hongkong, Prof. Ray Croucher presented at the conference. Prof. Ashok Utreja, Chairman, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. Dr. Y. C. Mishra, Prof. & Head of GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, Prof. B. Nand Lal, Principal and Head of J.S.S Dental College, Mysore were the other speakers in this symposium. Many other eminent speakers from the Indian dental community also shared their views on various topics at the conference.

150 posters were presented by the students and 8 posters by the faculty. Six international Speakers presented their lectures and symposium. 16 national speakers delivered their lectures and symposium. In addition to their scientific activities, Dental Trade Exhibition was also organized in the main lawns of institution. Colgate, Confident, Dentsply, Unicorn, Pulpdent and Jaypee Brothers came for the trade fair.
