Orthognathic Surgery Workshop hosted by ITS CDSR on 19th-20th May, 2016

Orthognathic surgery is a unique domain in which the expertise of both surgeons and orthodontists are required to produce the desired changes in facial skeletal architecture and occlusion. 
Addressing this core group, the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, ITS CDSR organized a two day course on “CASE PLANNING IN ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY: AN EVOLVING SCIENCE on 19th and 20th of May 2016. More than a hundred delegates and PG students from colleges in Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana, U.P and Punjab attended the highly informative lecture sessions and live demonstrations.
A galaxy of speakers from both specialties were invited from different parts of India who not only enthralled the audience with their keen knowledge of current methods of planning but also apprised them of  future trends. Several new concepts e.g. Surgery first approach were discussed in length at this meet.
On the first day, Dr. Anmol Kalha, Dr. MSV Kishore and Dr. Payal Sharma discussed the role of Orthodontics in orthognathic surgery, while Dr. Vivek Vardhan Reddy and Dr. Anil Murarka spoke at length about surgical correction of various craniofacial and jaw deformities. 
First day lectures highlighted the role of precise planning based on clinical and cephalometric analysis and model surgery. Finer points of orthodontics and surgery were discussed in detail by the speakers.Latest trends in digital technologyusing2D and 3D virtual planning which eliminates several steps of model surgery were also presented. 
The second day was dedicated to the use of 3D printed skull models, which allow surgeons to handle and manipulate actual bone replicas.Dr. Sanjeev Kumar kick-started this session by showcasing the application of 3D models in cases done in his department.  Mr. Deepak Raj from Osteo3D then discussed the technical aspects of 3D printing. Finally, Dr. Satyajit Dandagi demonstrated the techniques of planning orthognathic surgery on life-size models. This was followed by a video presentation of a case of facial asymmetry correction operated at Surya Hospital a day earlier. 
Audience feedback was sought at the end of the course which was uniformly positive. Each delegate and student felt that he/she had learnt something new at this meet.

9TH ANNUAL SOLA Conference held at I.T.S CDSR from 20th to 25th Feb 2017

The 9th Annual Conference of Society for Oral Laser Applications was hosted by I.T.S Centre for Dental Studies and Research, Muradnagar, Ghaziabad from 20th to 25th February 2017. The programme comprised of the Diploma module and the main Conference under the aegis of Society for Oral Laser Applications (SOLA), India affiliated to SOLA International and Medical University of Vienna, Austria. 
There was an enthusiastic response from across the country with 400 registrations from about 30 dental colleges including the post graduates, Interns and the under graduates. We were fortunate to have the didactic lectures from the galaxy of renowned International and National speakers who are the stalwarts in the field of laser dentistry. A special Laser workshop was also organized for the Interns and Under Graduates on 15th February 2017 to introduce them to the world of Laser Dentistry followed by a Hands-on session with Diode Laser. 
13 delegates participated in the diploma module held from 20th – 23rd February 2017 which is a structured programme leading to Mastership course from University of Vienna, Austria. Around 70 Clinical cases were treated with soft and hard tissue lasers such as Diode, Er: YAG, Nd:YAG, Carbon dioxide lasers and the participants were educated on the various application of lasers.
There was a grand inauguration ceremony for the main conference held on a beautiful morning of 23rd February 2017 for the warm welcome of all the delegates and eminent International and National speakers. The Chief Guest, Dr. Mahesh Verma, Dean, MAIDS and the Guest of Honour , Dr. Andreas  Moritz, Founder President, SOLA International enlightened the budding dentists with their inspiring words. 19 Keynote lectures covering the application of lasers in various fields of dentistry were presented by renowned National and International speakers. There was a live demonstration of a wide array of cases such as depigmentation, frenectomy, LANAP, excision of fibroma, flap surgery, dentinal hypersensitivity, endodontic procedures, facial cosmetic treatments and so on under the guidance of Indian and foreign faculty members.  This  annual conference was a path breaking opportunity for students to exhibit their paramount research work through  paper and poster presentations and discuss the same with the exalted scientists. Around 100 scientific presentations were held and  judged by the esteemed SOLA faculty members. 
It was ofcourse much more than the scheduled scientific sessions and certainly enhance camaraderie, culture and social interaction. A Presidential Dinner was arranged for all the SOLA members and organizing committee at Fortune Inn, Ghaziabad on 23rd February 2017. An imperious “Gala night” was organized in the evening on 24th .February 2017 at Lemon Tree Hotel, Kaushambi for all the dignitaries and delegates where they enjoyed the impressive music and delicious food. The winners of all the scientific sessions were felicitated at the valedictory function by Dr. Peter Verheyan, President SOLA International. This conference was a huge success with unforgettable experiences and nostalgic memories to cherish.

Indian Dental Student Conference held on 15th & 16th March, 2016

I.T.S Centre for Dental Studies & Research, Ghaziabad (Del-NCR) in association with Indian Dental Association hosted Indian Dental Student Conference – 2016 (North Zone) on 15th and 16th March, 2016.
The dignitaries on the dais for the inaugural function were Mr. Pankaj Singh (General Secretary, BJP Uttar Pradesh & Chief Guest of the function),  Prof R K  Khandal (Former Vice Chancellor UPTU & Guest of Honour for the Function), Dr R P Chadha (Chairman, I.T.S - The Education Group & Chief Patron of the Conference), Dr Hari Parkash (Director General, I.T.S Group of Dental Institutions & Patron of the Conference),  Dr Ashok Dhoble (Hon Secretary General, IDA) and  Dr T N Tilakraj (President, IDA Ghazibad).
The program started with the lamp lighting by the dignitaries followed by welcome address by Dr Hari Parkash who welcomed all the delegates from various institutions across the country. He highlighted the achievement of the Institution and thanked IDA for bestowing their trust in the Institution for hosting a Conference of such magnitude.
This was followed by an address by Dr Ashok Dhoble who praised the Institution and the efforts of the Organising Committee for the meticulous arrangements. He also apprised the students about the present scenario of  dentistry. This was followed by the Presidential Address by Dr Tilakraj.
The Student Council for the Conference was Constituted.
This was followed by the address by Guest of Honour -  Prof. R K Khandal who emphasized upon the role of Ayurveda in Dentistry.
Shri Pankaj Singh – Chief Guest of the Conference talked about the need of youth to take charge of the field and work in a very dedicated way both towards the profession as well as towards the nation.
Dr R P Chadha felicitated the Chief guest and Guest of Honour. Dr Hari Parkash felicitated Dr Ashok Dhoble and Dr T N Tilakraj. 
A standing ovation was given to Mr Arpit Chadha (Vice Chairman, ITS THE Education Group & Patron of the Conference) for conceptualizing the whole Conference and making it possible to organize an event of such magnitude. Dr Vinod Sachdev felicitated Mr Arpit Chadha. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the Organising Secretary Dr Piush Kumar.
The Conference witnessed a participation of around 3000 delegates from more than 30 Dental Institutions across the nation. There were 4 Keynote Lectures more than 350 Scientific presentations, Cultural and Sports events etc. The Conference had a trade fair also.
Cash awards were given for Fashion show, War of Bands, Group Dance  and many other events.
The Overall Winner trophy went to ITS CDSR, first runner up was ITS Dental College Greater Noida and 2nd Runner up was Santosh Dental College Ghaziabad.
Best Cultural trophy went to ITS CDSR, Ghaziabad. Best Sports team awards went to K D Mathura.
War of Bands competition was won by Santosh Dental College. Fashion Show award went to ITS CDSR.
Special attraction of the Conference included performance by Rap Star Badshah and Aasatha Gill  on eve of 15th March, 2016 and DJ night on 16th March,2016. The delegates really enjoyed the Indian Dental Student Conference – 2016  and parted with fond memories of the event.

CDE ON CLINICAL PHOTOGRAPHY HELD ON

The Department of Orthodontics organized a lecture & hands-on course on ‘Clinical Photography’ on 22nd Jan 2016 in association with the Orthodontic Study Group of Delhi. The guest speaker was Dr. Akhter Hussain, Professor and Head, Department of Orthodontics, Yennapoya Dental College, Mangalore. He has won multiple national & international awards in photography. The CDE was attended by 156 delegates from 14 dental colleges in the NCR region. The Director General Dr. Hari Parkash, Director PG Studies Dr. Vinod Sachdev & Principal Dr. Devi Charan Shetty inaugurated the event with several heads of departments, faculty and delegates from various institutions. Dr. Hari Parkash impressed upon the delegates the importance of record keeping and documentation in today’s clinical scenario. This was followed by detailed lectures on the types of cameras & lenses by Dr. Akhter Husain. He also elaborated on the intricacies of clinical photography. The post-lunch session included hands- on training and demonstration of intra-oral & extra-oral photography for 40 delegates. Post Graduate Students of ITS CDSR win awards at 30th IACDE &23rd IES Conference, Amritsar held from 27th-29th November, 2015

  • Post Graduate Students of Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics ,ITS CDSR participated in the 30th IACDE and 23rd IES National Conference, Amritsar held from 27th to 29th November, 2015.
    •    Dr Megha Nagpal won the Gold Medal for Dental Debate at National Level.
    •    Dr Diksha Verma won the Bronze medal  for Original Research Paper Presentation at National Level.
    •    Dr Diksha Verma, Dr Parul Mour and Dr Megha Nagpal  have also been awarded Best Case Reports for respective months of January, July and October 2015 by Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.
    ITS is proud of the hard work put in by the PG students and the faculty guidance.

28th ISDR Conference held from 20th to 22nd November, 2015

  • I.T.S Centre for Dental Studies & Research, Ghaziabad hosted the 28th ISDR Conference from 20th to 22nd November, 2015. The Inaugural Ceremony was held on 20th November, 2015 and the Chief Guest was Hon’ble Feroze Varun Gandhi (Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha). The Guest of Honour was Dr S P S Bakshi (Chairman cum MD, Engineering Products India Ltd). The other dignitaries on the dais were Dr R P Chadha (Chairman – IT’S THE Education Group), Dr. Hari Parkash (Organising Chairman), Dr Marc Heft (President , IADR), Dr Christopher H Fox (Executive Director, IADR), Dr Naseem Shah (President, ISDR), , Dr S M Balaji (Secretray General ISDR), Dr O P Kharbanda (President Elect ISDR), Dr Vinod Sachdev (Organising Co Chairman) and Dr Devi Charan Shetty (Organising Secretary). The function started with the lamp lighting followed by welcome address by Dr Hari Parkash.

    Dr Vinod Sachdev addressed the audience with an overview of ITS. Hon’ble Varun Gandhi in his address mesmerized the audience. He stressed upon the youth to act collectively and address the problems at all levels so that a change can happen. He also assured that he would forward the recommendations regarding Dental health and budget allocation to the Health  ministry. A total of 05 Cash awards  worth Rs 5000/- each were distributed to the winners of Best Research Abstracts.  Dr Balaji gave a report regarding ISDR. Dr Marc Heft and Dr C Fox also addressed the audience.  Dr R P Chadha presented a memento to the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. Dr Hari Parkash presented a memento to Dr R P Chadha and other digniteries on the dais. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr Devi Charan Shetty.

    The Conference witnessed a participation of 16 International Speakers and 33 National Keynote Speakers along with 750 delegates. A total of 14 Pre Conference Courses were conducted on 18th/19th November 2015 which were attended by over 400 participants.

    A Gala Carnival had been arranged on the eve of 20th November, 2015 at the ITS lawns. A Presidential Banquet was organized on the eve of  21st November, 2015 at Lemon Tree Banquets.

    Annual General Body meeting was held during the Conference  in which Dr Hari Parkash became the President Elect of ISDR. A new EC was also constituted.

    The Valedictory function was held on 22nd November, 2015 in which Dr Marc Heft, Dr Hari Parkash, Dr S M Balaji and Dr Devi Charan Shetty felicitated the Organising Committee Members and distributed the ISDR awards and  cash awards for the winners.

    The Conference was a grand success and every delegate went enriched. The ISDR Body placed on records that the 28th ISDR Conference hosted by ITS – The Education Group has been a grand success.
