Bachelor of Dental surgery (BDS), Four + One Year Compulsory Internship
Bachelor of Dental Surgery(BDS) course at I.T.S Centre for Dental Studies & Research is recognised by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India with an intake of 100 students per year. The college is affiliated to Ch. Charan Singh University, Meerut.
Hence the Rules & Regulations of the Ch. Charan Singh University in regard to the syllabi and conduct of examination shall apply
Every student shall undergo a period of certified training for not less than four calendar years, attending prescribed course of study followed by twelve months of internship. The clinical studies and internship shall be completed at a Dental College and Hospital recognized by Dental Council of India.
General Human Anatomy including Embryology & Histology General Human Physiology & Bio- Chemistry.
Dental Materials.
The Second Professional Examination
At the end of the Second year, examinations shall be conducted in the following subjects: -
a. General Pathology & Microbiology.
b. Human Oral Anatomy including Embryology Histology
c. General & Dental Pharmacology & therapeutics
The Third Professional Examination
At the end of the third year, examinations shall be conducted in the following subjects: -
a. General Medicine - written, & oral * practical
b. General Surgery -written, oral practical
c. Oral Pathology& Microbiology - written, oral & practical
d. Preventive & community Dentistry- written, oral & practical
The Final Professional Examination
At the end of the Fourth year, examination shall be conducted in the following subjects: -
a. Prosthodontics including Crown and Bridge
b. Conservative Dentistry including Endodontics
c. Pedodontics
d. Oral Surgery & Anesthesia.
e. Periodontics
f. Orthodontics
g. Oral Medicine (Oral Diagnosis) & Radiology.
NOTE: Candidates before presenting themselves for first/ second / third/final year examination shall produce evidence of
a. Having attended complete courses of instruction approved by University for the subjects of respective years.
b. Having completed the required practical & demonstrations separately for the subjects of that year.
c. Having completed the prescribed practical and dissection of Human body for first year exam only.
Having passed the prior year examination except for the first year.
Compulsory Rotating Internship
Every Candidate will be required after passing final BDS examination to undergo one year paid rotating internship in any Dental institution of the country, which is recognized by the Dental Council of India. The Principal of the Institution will do the timetable and posting of Interns. On successful completion of Internship as certified by the Principal the candidate shall be eligible of the award of BDS degree in the event of shortage or unsatisfactory work. The Principal may suitably extend the period of this Internship
A student who tops in aggregate in any annual 1st, 2nd, 3rd or final professional examination in the university shall be awarded a Gold Medal
A student who stands IInd in aggregate in any annual 1st, 2nd, 3rd or final professional examination in the university shall be awarded a silver medal.
A student who tops in university in any subject of 1st, 2nd, 3rd or final professional examination in the university shall be awarded a gold medal.
A student who stands IInd in any subject of 1st, 2nd, 3rd or final professional examination in the university shall be awarded a silver medal.
Students who stand Ist in aggregate of all the four university examinations shall be declared as the Best Grade and be awarded a Gold Medal. Such a student must pass all the annual examinations in first attempt.
No medal is awarded to any student for standing 1st or 2nd in aggregate or in individual subject in the supplementary examination even if it is his/her 1st attempt.
A prize for Excellence in clinical work shall be awarded to final year students on the recommendation of committee comprising the heads of clinical Dental subjects.
A college colour shall be awarded to a student who excels in sports in the college university state or national level.
A scholarship of Rs. 10000/- shall be awarded to any students who tops in any annual University examinations in aggregate.
In addition to the above a certain no. of poor and deserving students may be awarded cash scholarship or part fee concession on the recommendation of the college council.
Students who stand first in the college in any final exam in aggregate shall be awarded a "Scholar Badge".
Only the students studying in a recognized Dental college are allowed to migrate or transfer to another recognized dental college provided the two institutions follow same curriculum. However migration or transfer is not allowed in the middle of any year and in no case before the completion of Ist BDS examination. A NOC from principals of both the institutions is a mandatory requirement. No migration from this college will be permitted unless college fees for the whole course are paid in full.
The migration is subject to approval by Dental Council of India. The student opting for migration/transfer shall do so at his own risk & responsibility the college authorities shall not be held responsible for the inherent risks involved
