PEDODONTICS AND PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY
Department of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry focuses on the comprehensive oral health care of the child as a whole. It emphasizes on preventive aspect of the dental needs of the children and promotes awareness among the public, especially parents and children by the means of various dental health awareness (Education) Programs and School health programs.
Our aim to impart quality education in the field of Pediatric dentistry at both undergraduate as well as postgraduate level and provide quality dental care to all children at the same time. These objectives are achieved at clinical level, academic level in the department and the field levels through various rural and school health programs.
We commenced the post graduate program in the year 2007 with the current intake of 3 seats for MDS per year.
Specialized work performed in the department is: comprehensive treatment for Early childhood caries, interceptive and preventive orthodontics, management of children with special health care needs, advanced pulp therapy procedures and traumatic injuries.
Conscious sedation facility to perform dental procedures under sedation and general anesthesia for children who are too young to cooperate for dental procedures and mentally and physically challenges children.
RVG, Apex locators, Fiber Optic Diagnostic, Air polisher for Minimal Intervention, Advanced Materials for Preventive and Therapeutic Oral health care of Children are made available.
• We hosted 31st Annual Conference of ISPPD at ITS-CDSR Muradnagar, Ghaziabad in November 2009.
• Continuing Dental Education Program: “Pedodontics Update” in August 2008:.
We have started a pit and fissure sealant preventive program in collaboration with Ordnance Factory, Muradnagar for ordnance school children.
We have around 18 Publications done by faculty till date. Currently ongoing research work in the department are-
1. Effect of MTA on dental pulp of primary molars
2. Longevity of endodontic treatment
3. Role of saliva in dental caries
4. Evaluation of microleakage of pit and fissure sealant –in vivo study
