ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY
The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology deals with the diagnosis and medical management of oro facial diseases and the oral manifestations of systemic disorders. It also deals with the maxillofacial imaging and dental management of medically compromised patients (patients with medical problems).
This is the first department any new patient visits. Being a referral department it plays a pivotal role in patient education & disease detection.
The Oral Medicine & Radiology Department is equipped with 21 dental chairs, a seminar room, clinical diagnostic instruments, an intra oral camera, an autoclave, TENS, ultrasonic massager, electronic pulp testers, LCD, slide & over head projectors, digital cameras and computers with internet and printing facilities. The radiology unit is equipped with two panoramic machines with conventional tomography, Vista scan, three intra oral radiography units, one automatic processor, a film duplicator, a cabinet drier and dark room. The department library has approximately 100 titles of reference books.
The department provides OPD services to the college and has new patient inflow of 170/ day on an average and 120 patients / day for Maxillofacial Radiology. The department follows an arduous academic curriculum for both under graduate and post graduate students.
Procedures and treatment rendered:
• Diagnosis of oral & dental diseases.
• Early detection, diagnosis and medical management of precancerous and cancerous lesions of oral cavity, infective and inflammatory disorders involving orofacial structures, orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders.
• Radiological investigation of oral and maxillofacial structures related to diagnosing different maladies.
• Dental management of systemically compromised patients
