    The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery  celebrated “World Oral Surgery Day along with Oral Cancer Day on 13th Feb 2017”. The event started with a brief history of AOMSI by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar (Head of the Department OMFS). Then a lecture was taken by Dr. Manu Dhillon on Oral Cancer Diagnosis & Prevention. A “Slogan Competition” was organized for BDS 3rd & 4th Year students & theme for the same was “Oral Cancer Prevention & Awareness”. There was enthusiastic participation by the students & prizes were given for best 3 slogans in each year by Dr. Col. S.K. Agarwal, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, & Dr. Sonali Taneja.
    With the aim of spreading awareness of Oral Cancer, a  march was flaged off by Dr.Vinod Sachdev which was carried out in the campus of I.T.S CDSR by B.D.S 3rd year students. An oral cancer screening camp was organized in the Departments of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery  , Public Health Dentistry , Oral Medicine & Radiology  & Oral Pathology.

    On "World Leprosy Day" Chairman of I.T.S -The Education Group, Dr. R.P Chadha and Vice Chairman Mr. Arpit Chadha expressed their concern to the staff / students of I.T.S C.D.S.R Muradnagar  and insisted for  supporting  in  reaching the public on importance of this health issue.
    The Health Message for Leprosy Day was conveyed to people through the following activities observed at college premise and village camp as initiated by Dr Ipseeta Menon. Leprosy Eradication Day was celebrated with the objective of  creating awareness amonst the community about Leprosy. Health Education Talk along with video demonstration regarding leprosy diagnosis and treatment to all the OPD patient and to residents of Sultanpur Village were given.  Pamphlets were circulated in both Village residents and OPD  patients in college by postgraduate students. All patients were encouraged to spread awareness and information regarding leprosy by Dr Avnish Singh, Dr Ricky Pal Singh and Dr Anubhav.  Patient's querry was addressed by the faculty and post graduate students.
    Our sincere Thanks to the Management of I.T.S.C.D.S.R, Dr.Vinod Sachdev, Director PG Studies, Dr Devi Charan Shetty Principal,  HOD/ Teaching Faculty of  all the 9 Dental Specialities for their valuable support in organising this event. The following students actively participated in this event :Dr Ishani, Dr. Preeti,  Dr.Jyoti, Dr. Vidya, Dr.Venkat, Dr.Disha, Dr. Upasana, Dr.Deepa, and Interns posted in department.

    Take home message of this event on what we can do as individuals?
    •    Be aware and educate yourself about leprosy
    •    Loss of sensation in the limbs, presence of white patches, Permanent damage to skin, limbs and eyes. 
    •    Free treatment available in CHC and PHC. Anti leprosy drugs available.
    •    Kindly share what you know about Leprosy with your near and Dear ones.

All treatments were provided free of cost, which included  oral cavity examination besides  oral health talk, oral hygiene instructions,  tooth restorations, oral prophylaxis, X-rays and tooth extractions.     Three days Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp was organized by I.T.S UG Campus, Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad at I.T.S Dental College, Muradnagar under DST- NIMAT Project in collaboration with NSTEDB, DST, Govt. Of India, New Delhi & EDI Ahemdabad, Gujrat from 23 rd – 25 th Jan., 2017. The Camp was inaugurated by Dr. Vinod Sachdev, Director PG studies, I.T.S Dental College and Dr. Devicharan Shetty, Principal, I.T.S Dental College.It was presided by Prof.(Dr.) Vidya Sekhri, Director UG I.T.S Mohan Nagar. Eighty Three (83) students of BDS Third year attended this entrepreneurship awareness camp. Dr.Dipak Kumar Sharma, Director of S.S. Associates,delivered lecture on Entreprenuer Quality and Motivation Development.It was followed by a session on Sensing business opportunity- leading to successful entreprenuership by Prof. C.K. Sabharwal, Director ISK Biosciences India Pvt Ltd. Sessions on financial management, funding agencies and schemes for finacing projects continued the consecutive day and were conducted by Dr. Vidya Sekhri and Dr. S.P. Sharma (Former Vice Chancellor, DSVV Haridwar).The main objective of the Camp was to create awareness among students about various facets of entrepreneurship while highlighting the merits of pursuing such a career option. Students were exposed to different aspects of entrepreneurship, including opportunity guidance, services offered by agencies of support system etc. A visit to the industries located in the region was also arranged to bring the students in direct touch with practicing entrepreneurs.The learning was supplemented by well compiled course material and coordinated by Dr. Abhishek Nagpal, Coordinator UG, I.T.S Dental College.

    Students of ITS Dental College Muradnagar participated in the CDE (Continuing Dental Evaluation) programme which was organised by "The Jaypee Publishers" on the 14th of January 2017 in Dariya ganj, New Delhi.
    There were 9 reputed colleges with 3-5 students each from Delhi-NCR.
    The CEO, Mr JP Vij inaugurated the ceremony following which we attended a seminar regarding the new "EQR ie essential quick review" series for final year BDS students that have recently been published by Jaypee. There was a surprise quiz based on the 3 hour seminar and each student who answered any question got a book.
    This was followed by "The Student Ambassador contest" in which each student was given a question paper containg 30 mcq questions based on their clinical knowledge of 3rd and 4th year.
    1 student from each college was selected as the student ambassador.
    Kamya Mahajan,from ITS Dental College, Muradnagar was chosen for the same.
    In the end,there was a lecture by Dr. Shalu Bhatla who told us about her contribution towards periodontics in her recent edition of " Textbook of Periodontics".

    I.T.S Centre for Dental Studies & Research held “The Inaugural Dr. Hari Parkash Oration Lecture” on 23rd December, 2016 at Vikram Sarabhai Auditorium.

    This was a gesture of I.T.S The Education Group to recognize the pivotal role of Prof. (Dr.) Hari Parkash played in the growth of I.T.S Group of Dental Institutions.

    Mr. Surider Sood (Director – Public Relations) appreciated the efforts put in by Dr. Hari Parkash during his tenure at I.T.S. He also welcomed Prof. Ritu Duggal (AIIMS- CDER) who has consented to deliver this Oration Lecture.

    Dr Vinod Sachdev (Director PG Studies) also appreciated the guidance of Dr Hari Parkash and he emphasized upon the latest CAD CAM facility and a state of art mobile dental van that has been added at I.T.S CDSR.

    Mr. Arpit Chadha (Vice Chairman, I.T.S The Education Group) graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He along with Mr. B K Arora felicitated Prof. (Dr) Hari Parkash.

    This was followed by an address of Dr Hari Parkash who stated that he enjoyed every moment of his work at I.T.S and appreciated all the help he received from the Management under the able guidance of the Chairman – Dr R P Chadha.

    Dr Ritu Duggal delivered the Oration Lecture titled “Orthodontics : What do we know?” and showed many interesting clinical cases. Dr Vinod Sachdev and Dr D C Shetty felicitated the guest speaker.

    The program concluded with Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr D C Shetty.
